Children are an integral part of our church and the church is here to help children grow spiritually. To facilitate that mission, we have an Acolyte program at Elk Grove United Methodist Church which is designed for kids age 7 or in the 2nd grade through 6th grade. The Acolytes do many fun and important jobs at church. They light the candles for the services on Sunday, hand out the attendance pads, pass microphones to people during the announcements, clean up the sanctuary and other important duties. The Acolytes participate in fundraising for the Heifer Project as a way of giving back to other communities. We meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday after 2nd service from 12:15 to 2pm (except during summer break – June through August). At our meetings we sing, play games, listen to stories, do crafts and have prayer time. Please come join us!
Acolyte meetings will be the 2nd and 4th Sundays each month starting in September. Children are welcome to join anytime in the year! Shawn Eggers and Merrylyn Hebert are our leaders this year.
Here is the Acolyte schedule, which can also be found monthly in the newsletter. Please contact Shawn at firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text at (916) 508-1953 if you need a substitute or can’t make your scheduled Sunday!
