Young Adults Group

The Elk Grove United Methodist Young Adult group meets periodically for fellowship, to grow in their faith, and at the present moment are learning about handling and making wise choices with money through Financial Peace University. The Young adult group is geared towards young unmarried adults ages 18-30. This group gathers twice a month for dinner and fellowship. During the winter holiday at the beginning of January, the young adults go on a VIM trip (Volunteers In Mission) to Salt Lake City, Utah to work in the UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) warehouse. While there, they prepare supply kits that are sent all over the world to countries and people in need. Please consider joining us.

Our Next Meeting

The next meeting of the Young Adult Group will be Tuesday, October 16th at 6:00 PM at the Popish’s home, 10819 El Arroyo Rd., Elk Grove, CA  95624.

Please let Mary Popish (916-718-7601) know if you will be coming and what time so she can plan dinner accordingly.

We look forward to seeing you there and continuing planning our VIM trip in January as well as discuss necessary fundraising to reduce the cost of the trip. 

VIM Trip to Salt Lake City – January 2013

If you are planning on attending the ViM Trip January 7 – 12, 2013 Mary Popish needs to hear from you.  You will need an information packet and then return it filled out with a $35 deposit if you plan on going on this trip.

Upcoming fundraisers to help reduce the cost from $175 to $75 are:

Saturday, Oct. 6th - UMW Rummage Sale at Elk Grove UMC anytime after 8:00am till 5:00pm.  The women are a major sponsor of our VIM Trip and those who come and help will get part of their trip covered by the funds received from them. Extra help is needed from 4-6 for cleanup

Equal Exchange fundraiser.  Booklets and sample items are available from Mary Popish.

Saturday, November 3rd - Bake goods at Popish house for a bakesale at churches on Nov. 4th.  Proceeds will help offset costs of the VIM Trip.
