At Elk Grove United

are some of our ministries. We hope that you find a place to serve
or receive ministry.

Christianity Today
This group explores ways in which current
trends in Christianity reflect modern science and technology, historical research into biblical
times and origins, expanding insight into human psychology, moral dilemmas related to economic and
cultural globalization, everyday pressures of modern life, and exposure to a wide variety of religions
and philosophies. The group examines different interpretations of scripture and Christian tradition and
the practical implications for our personal spiritual growth and our engagement with society.
Christmas
Caroling
During the
Christmas Holiday Season, children, youth, and adults gather together,
practice carols, break into small groups, and go caroling at local nursing
homes and at the homes of shut-in members. This is a wonderful opportunity
to share our Christmas joy with persons who are ill or unable to get out
of their homes. Afterward we meet for hot chocolate and goodies.
Church Work
Days
Several days
a year are set aside to clean-up the church by our members. This
may involve yard work, painting, carpentry, scrubbing, organizing the kitchen
cupboards, carpet cleaning, and various other tasks that keep our church
looking beautiful and inviting to guests.
Confirmation
Class
Students (grade
6 - 8) learn about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Christian faith, the
United Methodist Church, and Christian mission and service. The class
visits a Sabbath service at a Jewish Synagogue and goes on 2 weekend retreats.
At the conclusion of the class, each student has the opportunity to decide
whether or not they are ready to join the church and make a public commitment
to Jesus Christ.
