Youth Christian Education

Christian education classes for youth is at 9:45 AM on Sunday mornings.

Junior High Class (7th & 8th graders)

Junior High Class (7th & 8th graders) guides youth with thoughtful, reflective, and active study of the message of God.  This is a place of safety and where youth make new friends and enrich their faith.  John Wesley said, “Though we may not think alike, may we not all love alike?”  By recognizing diversity of thought, we seek the understanding to questions, raise doubts and discuss our real world problems.  We express concern for others, learn about our environment, and take action.

Our faith-based learning helps us enrich our lives and those around us.  We learn how to put faith and love into action and perform acts of kindness.  As we discuss activities from the past week, we explore compassion, promote Christian values, and put into place structure for our spiritual Journey.  We utilize various materials for class discussion including recent sermon topics

High School Sunday School Class (9th – 12th grade)

When asked to describe Elk Grove United Methodist Church’s High School Sunday School Class (9th – 12th grade), the students had insightful and positive responses in mind. First and foremost, they really enjoy the voluntary nature of the class. The discussions are held in an open forum, and they can be candid because of the sense of trust and confidentiality between them and the teachers. They describe the environment as a sacred space, where they can interact with their peers, gain insight into scripture, and become closer to God. Everyone has a personal faith journey that is a learning experience, and the curriculum aims to connect current events and challenge our thinking by reflecting on related scripture passages. By exploring Faith through daily life and in applicable ways, we can open our minds to new ways of interacting in society.
